The Enzler workers are fighting to improve their working conditions and to have their rights respected. While the Biogen corporation is shifting all responsibility to their cleaning company Enzler, they have achieved the release of a union delegate in the background.

The working conditions in the cleaning department at Biogen's new production site in Luterbach are miserable. Workers from Enzler Reinigung tell of incorrect hourly billing, low wages, non-compliance with safety regulations and the resulting accidents at work. The situation in Luterbach is so serious that the three organizations Reinigungskollektiv Solothurn, FAU Switzerland and IWW JAM were mandated by the workers to call in the Solothurn Labor Inspectorate.

Since March, many in the catering industry a.k.a. "Gastro" have been struggling with massive wage losses. Therefore, many of us listened closely when on December 18, the parliament passed 100% short-time compensation for the low wages. The first pay slips now show that the reality is far from it. Hourly wage earners get a maximum of 81%, monthly wage earners a maximum of 92%.
